Your Visit: Moonlight Flicks FAQs

Where is Moonlight Flicks?

This summer (2024) Moonlight Flicks has moved to Grosvenor Park!

Moonlight Flicks screenings will be within the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre festival site. This is the only Moonlight Flicks location this summer.

How do I get there?

Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is in Grosvenor Park, in the heart of Chester city centre. If you are using a sat nav, use postcode CH1 1QQ (Vicars Lane). You can also follow the AA Road Signs to Open Air Theatre. Local, regional and national train services all run from Chester Station, which is a 10 minute walk away. Chester Bus Interchange is also a 10 minute walk away.

Find on Google Maps here.

Is there parking nearby?

The nearest car park is the NCP at Pepper Street (follow the AA Road signs for parking and Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre.)  This car park is open until midnight, and disabled parking is available.

There are various other city centre car parks available. See local car parks. Please check closing times as in the event of rain delay the finish time may be a little later. Street parking is also available at evenings and weekends a few minutes walk away.

Is there food & drink?

Street food including fresh, wood-fired pizza and barbecue, will be available to buy onsite. You can also bring your own food and snacks. We ask that you do not bring your own alcohol onsite. There will be a full bar available, with local craft beers, frozen cocktails, prosecco on ice and more.

Scroll down to pre-order Pizza and Drinks.

What happens if it rains?

Moonlight Flicks screenings will not be called off before 6pm on the day of the screening – at which point a decision will be made by our team based on the weather conditions. If we do have to make the decision to cancel a screening, this will be communicated by email, so please check your inbox and junk folder.

Being outside, Moonlight Flicks can be affected by the weather. Our advice is to come as prepared as possible – with warm jumpers and umbrellas just in case. If there’s some light drizzle which is forecast to pass, we will proceed, but torrential or stormy weather may mean we have to cancel the screening.

We will make a decision based on the conditions at 6pm on the day of the screening – even the most gloomy of days can turn into a balmy evening! If your screening is cancelled, you will be emailed a form to let us know if you would like to exchange to a different screening, or to get a refund. You do not need to contact us.

Refunds will only be offered in the event that the screening is cancelled.

Are dogs allowed?

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome, as long as they won’t disturb other audience members. They don’t need a ticket!

Do I need to bring my own chairs?

If you have booked a regular ticket, you will need to bring your own seats with you – deck chairs, outdoor beanbags and camping chairs are perfect.

If you’ve booked a Chair Upgrade, we’ll have your deckchairs all set up for you with the very best views, for when you arrive. If you’ve already booked your ticket but would like to upgrade, you can do this below:

What time can I arrive?

The festival site is open two hours before the film start time; you are very welcome to head down from then to get set up and grab a frozen cocktail!

When will the film start?

To ensure it is dark enough for everyone to see the screen, film times can change. The advertised start times is the earliest possible time the film will start – the latest will be 20 minutes later.

How will I hear the film?

To ensure maximum sound quality and a totally immersive experience, we will provide individual headphone sets. We have enough headphones for everyone, although customers are welcome to bring their own headphones with them to plug in to the sets if they prefer.

Are there toilets?

Yes! There are toilets within the festival site, including accessible toilets.

Is the site accessible?

The festival site is accessible with no steps leading to the site and has accessible toilets onsite – but please do bear in mind that whilst there are concrete pathways at the park, the theatre auditorium is located on grass and you will need to travel over a small area of grass to reach it.

There will be plenty of team members welcoming audiences on site for any help or guidance you might need.

If you have any extra requirements, please let us know by emailing ticketing@storyhouse.com.
